Membership 


7.1 Classes

There shall be five (5) classes of membership in the Association:

a) Annual Members;

b) Associate Members;

c) Life Members;

d) Household Members; and

e) Corporate Members.

7.2 Eligibility

7.2.1 Annual Membership

Annual memberships shall be open to any person who resides in Renfrew County and who supports the purposes and objects of the Association and who pays an annual membership due, except persons employed by the Association or other local Associations, Regional Councils, provincial or national Associations with which it is affiliated.

7.2.2 Life Membership

Unless otherwise determined by the Board, a Life Membership shall be open to any person who resides in Renfrew County and who supports the purposes and objects of the Association and who pays a life membership due, except persons employed by the Association. Subject to Section 7.8, a Life Membership shall be valid as of the date of purchase and for all future membership years. Honourary Life Membership - An Honourary Life Membership may be conferred by the Board on any person who has made an outstanding contribution to the Association or to persons with developmental disabilities or other handicapping conditions.

7.2.3 Associate Membership

An Associate Membership shall be open to any person or organization that supports the purposes and objects of the Association and pays an associate membership due. An Associate Member shall not be entitled to vote.

7.2.4 Household Membership

A Household Membership shall be open to any person who resides in Renfrew County and who supports the purposes and objects of the Association and who pay a household membership fee, except persons employed by the Association. This membership covers a group of people living under the same roof to purchase a group rate membership and holds full voting privileges.

7.2.5 Corporate Membership

A Corporate Membership is open to any company or organization who supports the purpose and objects of the Association and who pays a corporate membership fee. There shall be no voting privileges.

7.3 Termination

Membership in the Association shall not be transferable and shall cease to exist upon a member's resignation or death. Members may resign from the Association by a resignation in writing addressed to the Association.

7.4 Membership Year

Unless otherwise determined by the Board, a membership shall be the twelve (12) months following the payment of the membership dues and applicable to that year only.

7.5 Dues

Membership dues shall be such as are established from time to time by the Board.

7.6 Age

To be eligible for an Annual or Life Membership, a person must be eighteen (18) years of age or over.

7.7 Voting Classes

Annual Members, Life (and Honourary) Members, and members included under a Household Membership shall be entitled to vote in any proceedings of the Association.

7.8 Record Date

New memberships must be purchased not later than fourteen (14) days prior to any meetings, including the Annual General Meeting in order to be eligible to vote at such meetings, provided that current members renewing their memberships later than fourteen (14) days prior to any meetings including the annual General Meeting shall be entitled to vote at such meetings.
