We're Recruiting! Supportive Employment Job Coach
Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley (CLUOV) supports individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing assistance with employment opportunities, housing (including independent living), respite care and personal support with day-to-day activities. The people we support are between the ages of 18 and 70. Our vision is to assist in building an inclusive community, where individuals with an intellectual disability are included in community life.
One of our initiatives is BEE Successful, an employment agency that brings employers and people with disabilities together to create mutually beneficial employment relationships. As part of this initiative, we are recruiting for students for summer employment as a Supportive Employment Job Coach. This is a full-time position for up to 16 weeks, beginning May 19, 2020. There are 2-4 positions available.
The Supportive Employment Job Coach will be assigned to one person with a disability and together, you will work to seek and obtain employment for that individual. The Job Coach will engage with employers in all sectors including tourism, manufacturing, social media, and small business and will present support strategies for employment solutions that are creative and customized to meet employer needs.
Position responsibilities include:
- Assisting students who have disabilities to find and maintain paid summer employment.
- Championing inclusive employment to local business partners.
- Providing orientation and on the job training once employment has been attained.
- Assisting the student to learn and perform the job tasks to the employer’s specifications and to learn interpersonal skills.
- Providing on the job training, resources and strategies for the student and the employer.
- Carrying out strategies to enhance public awareness and engagement of employers.
Qualifications:
- These positions are intended for post-secondary students returning to school in the fall of 2020.
- We are looking for dynamic applicants with vast knowledge of the community.
- Applicants must have strong computer skills and knowledge of various software applications
- Some experience in sales and marketing would be an asset.
Mentoring
Senior staff will be available to provide mentoring and consultation on a weekly basis or as needed.
The Job Coach will also have access to other professional development opportunities including First Aid, CPR and non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI).
